Heather (2014)

Premiere of new work for Anna McMichael (violin) and Zubin Kanga (piano) commissioned by Julian Burnside QC to be performed at The Bendigo International Festival of Exploratory Music.

The title Heather alludes to a wild hedge of purple flowers that grows in patterns marking the lines where a building once stood. The piece is rich in resonant textures that intertwine and slowly rotate like undergrowth as it gradually overtakes a ruined wall.
