Performed by Cello Octet Amsterdam 12 June 2026
As we gaze toward the horizon, we watch the night emerge together. With music, we welcome the darkness and the stars. Star Map is a composition by Kate Moore that gives voice to the movements of celestial bodies around a fixed point in the landscape. How do you find your place in an ever-shifting world?
For Star Map, Kate Moore and Cello Octet Amsterdam drew inspiration from Stonehenge—a monumental astronomical instrument perfectly aligned with the surrounding landscape and resilient against the passage of time. Twilight and music sharpen the senses. Wind, surf, and nocturnal creatures fill the darkness; above you, the stars and clouds appear. In the blue hour between day and night—free from bright lights and the haste of the day—we embrace the beauty of the dark.
The night as a guide—sometimes it is the darkness itself that you need to move forward and know where you are.
