De Reiger

The work follows observations, research and poetic interpretation of the ways, character and habits of this water bird. Inspired by the spirit-like stance of these quiet but majestic creatures, they take on a mythological personae as they become the main characters within a sonic journey of stillness and flight told through the instrumentation of De Ereprijs Orkest. The music explores idiosyncrasies and paradox through a sound world that illustrates the bird as soft and powerful, present and absent, revealing an invisible world hidden in plain sight.
